We would like to inform you of an important change that affects the email functionality in iScala. It affects how the system sends documents and reports via email.
Upcoming change in email handling
Microsoft has announced that support for Basic Authentication will be removed for email communication via SMTP in the fall of 2025. This means that it will no longer be possible to send or receive email via the old authentication method.
What does this mean for iScala?
Epicor has implemented support for modern authentication (OAuth2) in iScala version 2024.1.
This means that:
- iScala version 2024.1 or later is required to continue sending documents and reports via email after the fall changes.
- Older versions of iScala will not work for sending via SMTP if you use Basic Authentication.
- iSQD distribution is also affected, as these sendings also use SMTP.
What do you need to do?
To ensure that your email communication continues to work after Basic Authentication is discontinued, you need to:
- Check which version of iScala you are using.
- Ensure that you are using, or upgrading to, version 2024.1 or later.
